The annual paradox – winter passed in a blink but memories of warmer weather & cows grazing outside are beyond recall. ‘True’ spring can not come soon enough. For us, this is not marked by a date or religious festival…it is the day Tom decides the fields have sufficient, new grass growth & firmness under hoof, for our organic ladies to start their grazing season. Hopefully in March but can be late April.
Fortunately, through collaborations & good storage, we have sufficient silage & straw bedding to keep the girls comfortable inside for as long as needed. We will not be turning out until conditions are kind. In preparation however, the farm team are fixing fences, repairing cow tracks & re laying water pipes to field troughs damaged by weather or vandals overwinter.
Once we know the date, we will email your invitation to join us for Turnout ‘26! A glorious day.
